
Prof. Gary Donohoe
Gary completed his doctoral training in clinical psychology at Trinity College Dublin, following which he specialised in adult and young adult clinical psychology. Gary has more than 20 years’ experience working as a clinical psychologist in a variety of public and private settings. He is passionate about providing support to individuals whose lives have been disrupted by mental health difficulties.
Gary’s training includes Psychoanalytic, Behavioural, Cognitive behavioural, Gestalt, Schema Therapy and EMDR. Gary has practiced and taught Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for many years and in 2013 qualified as an advanced certified Schema Therapist from the New York Schema Therapy Institute.
As a professor of Psychology, Gary is internationally recognised for his work in serious mental health disorders across the life span. He has published over 300 scientific articles focused on understanding and treating serious and enduring mental health difficulties in adults and young adults. In 2022, Gary was elected to the Royal Irish Academy in recognition of his research in mental health. His current research focused on developing interventions for individual in the early stages mental health difficulties, particularly for those with a history of childhood trauma.
